Run Forest Run....

Cheesy Title I know but I couldn't help it!! Since April of this year I have joined my co-workers on a  "quest for  healthy living."  Let me start by saying I am not a fan of running, my co-workers would always invite me to run and I would say "oh no, I hate running, you won't catch me running" it took them one year to convince me to join them, and here I am 6 months in, and I am enjoying every minute of it!!! I always ask myself "why am I doing this?"  "What is the purpose of running?" "Will I ever stop now that I have started?" these are just some of the questions, and from what I have read running is great for your heart, bones, your stress level, and over all health.  However I have not lost any weight, but I have noticed that my legs and butt have started to "firm up" I even see some toning in my arms.  Now if I can just loose from my mid-section!!! So lets talk about my running schedule we run Monday, Wednesday and Friday and I am up to 4 to 4.5 miles with a pace of about 9 minutes 45 seconds a mile.  My goal is to eventually get to 5 miles 4 times a week with a pace of 8-8.5 minute miles.  A side note if you do decide to start running from what I learned so far always start with a light stretch before your run, always stretch after you run and on your off days you want to work out your hamstrings, quads and butt because you want to make sure that your legs are strong so you are not putting all your weight on your knees!!!
